There are three sisters
There are three sisters.
One of the sisters says, I'm off to look for a husband.
She went.
She's on her way.
She came to a path trodden down knee-deep.
A man in a red smock and a man in a black smock are pulling out fatty pike guts and fatty orfe guts and eating them.
She went for a short or a long time, she came to an old woman and an old man.
Whom did you see?
Whom did I see?
I saw a black-smocked man and a red-smocked man.
What are they doing?
The're pulling out fatty orfe guts and fatty pike guts and eating them.
You won't become our daughter-in-law, you have spoken poorly.
Your soul will leave you tonight.
What can become of me?
I'll stay anyway.
She was given something to eat and something to drink.
She lay down.
Then a man in snake's clothing came to her, he is spinning in a silver basin.
He spun around for a short time or a long time, then he bit her while going out, her heart and lungs were pierced.
The old man gets up, woman, wake up!
The hut has started to stink.
The old woman got up.
She went to take a look.
She took a look, she came back.
She says to the old man, it's really true what you're saying, that the hut has started to stink.
We didn't notice, at some point her soul left.
Woman, go throw her out!
The woman went and threw her out.
The younger sisters live on.
They lived.
Where our sister died, there we also should.
You go, middle sister!
I'll remain still.
And the middle sister went.
She came to a path trodden down knee-deep.
She looks, a man in a black smock and a man in a red smock are pulling out fatty pike guts and fatty orfe guts and eating them.
She stood looking and went on.
Then she came to the old man and the old woman.
She made her greetings and so on.
Where are you off to?
I'm off to look for a husband.
Later in the night a husband will come to you, eat, drink.
Make yourself ready on that bench and lie down!
She ate, she drank, she lay down.
She sleeps.
She slept for a short or a long time, the man in snake's clothing came in a silver basin, he spins around above her.
He spun around for a short time or he spun about for a long time, then he bit her while going out; her heart and lungs were pierced.
Suddenly the old man says, get up, the hut has started to stink.
And the old woman got up.
Go to the bench to look!
The old woman went to the bench to look, she came back.
At some point her soul and life departed, we didn't notice.
Go, throw her out!
The old woman threw her out.
The last sister was living on her own.
Summertime came.
Where my sisters perished, there I (should) perish.
She goes.
She goes for a short time or a long time.
She came to a path trodden down knee-deep.
She went for a short time or a long time.
A red-smocked man and a black-smocked man are ripping out fatty orfe guts and fatty pike guts.
Then she went on.
She went for a short time or a long time.
She came to the old woman and old man.
She is asked, where are you off to?
You give nothing to eat and nothing to drink and still ask me to talk.
I had to go this path, if I strike, not a drop or anything else of you will be left.
The old man jumped up, the old woman jumped up, one of them pulled a table out, the other puts out meaty food, fatty food.
She put it out.
She sat down to eat.
She ate, she finished eating.
Then she made her greetings.
Then the old man and the old woman talk to each other, she listens: how shall we ask?
Either we'll get killed or something like that.
The woman says: When has there been anyone to eat us?
The old man says, you ask!
The old woman started to ask her, she asked her, where are you off to?
Why are you asking me?
I needed to go this path.
The old woman says, how should I not ask?
You ask and I ask.
What are you asking?
Have you noticed my sisters anywhere?
We certainly noticed your sisters.
Tell me quickly!
Don't frighten me, I'm scared.
What's there to be afraid of?
Let me think!
They were carried off by the wind, they were ripped apart by the cloud.
The old woman says, I'll ask in turn, whom did you see?
I saw two men of God in hook-pattern clothes, they turn this way, they turn that way.
Who are you looking for, too?
I'm looking for a husband.
Prepare a place to sleep, place a silver ladle on your heart, place a silver ring on your crown.
She placed a silver ring on her crown, she placed a silver ladle on her heart.
She's lying down.
Suddenly a man in snake's clothing comes to her.
He spins around above her a short time or a long time.
She thinks, it was you who murdered my sisters, will you kill me or not?
We weren't all laid into the same cradle.
I'm someone with nails and fangs.
I'm looking up at your snake clothing.
You're clever and I'm clever.
He spun and spun, while going out she got bitten on the heart, it just made a thud, she got bitten on the crown, it just made a thud.
And the man in snake's clothing went.
She got up, she's sewing a dress.
At some time the old man woke up.
Woman, get up!
The hut has started to stink.
And the old woman got up.
The old woman went to take a look.
Our daughter-in-law is sewing.
The old man says, we looked for a princess's daughter for him, we looked for a prince's daughter for him, she still didn't suit him, he has found the woman of his heart.
Put out the fire today, really sticking your hand in!
Let them freeze!
The old woman left them fire behind on the smokepit.
The old man and the old woman went to another village.
Then the daughter-in-law brought the fire inside and let it blaze up.
In the evening she lay down.
She placed a silver ring on her crown, she placed a silver ladle on her heart.
And the man in snake's clothing came again.
He spins in the silver basin.
She thinks, in what way could I catch you now?
He spun for a short time or a long time, while going out she was bitten in the heart, it just made a thud, she got bitten on the crown, it just made a thud.
Then she leapt up, she chased after him.
She chased for a short time or she chased for a long time.
At some point she looks, snakeskin clothing is hanging, there's a track made by skis.
Then she took the snakeskin and ripped it to shreds.
Then she goes back home.
She came back, she sat down to sew a dress, she's sewing a dress.
She looks at the table, a lot of meaty food and fatty food has been placed there, (how) not to eat, (how) not to drink!
She tasted this dish, she tasted another dish.
She sews the dress all the more.
Then she sewed for a short time or a long time.
It got dark.
She lay down.
She placed a silver ladle on her heart, she placed a silver ring on her crown.
She lies for a short time or a long time.
After a while the snake-skinned man in a silver basin came to her again.
He spins above her.
He spins for a short time or a long time.
When he was going out, she got bitten in the heart, is just made a thud, she got bitten on the crown, is just made a thud.
Then she leapt up, she chased after him.
She ran for a short time or a long time, snakeskin clothing is hanging, there's a track made by skis.
She took the snakeskin clothing and then brought it home.
She started to patch it.
She patched for a short time or a long time.
At some point she looks, meaty food and fatty food has been placed on the table, (how) not to eat, (how) not to drink!
She tasted this dish, she tasted another dish.
Then she began to sew the dress all the more.
The dress got done.
She took the silver ladle and placed it under her pillow, she took the silverring and placed it under her pillow, she placed the snake clothing under her pillow.
Some kind of human, some kind of something else?
She lay down, she fell asleep.
At some point she wakes up startled: a princess's son come from somewhere, a prince's son come from somewhere is lying (there).
They kissed, they necked.
When they collect themselves, the sun is coming up.
Then they live on.
The man fills seven storehouses (with game) from the water, he fills seven storehouses (with game) from the forest.
At one point the man says, my father, my mother are coming today to hold a commemoration for us.
You, he says, get a sooty rag ready!
Throw the sooty rag at them.
Get a shitpot ready for them, pour it in their face, with this they'll go.
Then she got a sooty rag ready, then she got a shitpot ready.
His mother and father come, she threw the sooty rag at them.
Then they started to come in, then she poured the shit pot in their face.
And with this they left.
She remained a short time or a long time, the man came.
The man says, did you do like I wanted?
I did.
With this they should live.
They threw us out to perish, we remained whole.
They kept on eating and drinking, they live on.
